New Necro Build with Recent Updates?
Well, after seeing how they just made necro godly with the new updates, I decided to delete my sin and make a necro.
I was wondering if anyone has a good idea to piece together a new build with skills for the recent updates? I would PREFER for the build to be PvE, but PvP will be welcomed as well.
And please no:
- MM build (anything concerning minions, including bombing them lol)
- SS build (I just dont think SS is useful enough for PvE until HM...and I can change prof by then)
SO does anyone have good ideas?
EDIT: Sorry guys I can't believe I forgo this: I have EVERYTHING (nf, fac, proph, gwen)

Are you starting in Prophecies? If so go all blood with Life siphon, Vampiric Gaze, Vampiric touch, and Shadow Strike. Go Monk secondary for self heals.
When you have all 200 attribute points, just start capping skills and trying out the different builds listed here and on www.pvxwiki.com You'll find a non MM, SS build you like. My fav is N/A using Assassin's Promise Curse build. Check Moloch Vein's sticky on how to play a Nec in the Necromancer section part of the Campfire forum.

Wail of doom > all. Toss in stuff like enfeebling blood and some curses stuff and you're good to go.

Dont promote blood magic please... It gives new necros the wrong idea... Blood is baed... always will be... Dont use it.. unless your farming greens... or are using a blood spike build in HA or something.
Even if you do start in prophecies.. the build is irrelevant in noob areas... just tome decent skills for PvE like... Enfeebling Blood, Barbs, Desecrate Enchantments and other spells in the Curses line that catch your fancy. Also.. Go to nf A.S.A.P pickup the PvE skill Necrosis... Get you SS rank to about 7 (which doesnt take long, nor is it hard) and then your pretty much set.
Tbh.. u can pretty much breeze through NM PvE even without SS or any other elite for that matter.. SS just makes it alot easier.. (kill non priority targets faster).
For PvP youl want WoD as elite.. with some anti melee hexes.. always take decent enchant removal.. One I like is Rip Enchantment.. I'm expecting the current WoD to be nerfed in some respect.. so consider getting another viable elite for PvP.. Corrupt Enchantment works well.
MMing is better left to heroes.. Although in many cases I'm sure a human MM is much better than a hero, I still find that Olias makes a hell of an MM (well... better than me anyway). Although if your just making an MM to tryout.. for the fun of it.. Chek www.pvxwiki.com as already posted.. or take some minions, blood of the master, AoE heal spell (Karei's healing circle) and take an elite like Flesh Golem... or Jagged Bones (my personal favorite).'
Hope that answers some of your questions ;p.

The OP stated he didn't want to go MM or SS. As you stated, in early PVE it doesn't really matter, but your choices are pretty limited when you first enter post-searing. That's why I suggested blood, though I should have been more clear about switching out of it as soon as you get better skills.

All these haters on blood. tsk tsk.
Just because people don't know how to use it doesn't make something 'baed.'
If you have nightfall you could have some fun playing a N//D blood user.
I've tinkered with some Dark Aura builds using Mystic Regen and AoTL, with practice you can do well with it. You will be MASSACRED in the harder areas, but you can have fun elsewhere with it.
Life Transfer is still a fun skill. Using life Siphon as a cover hex that's 11 degen on a target. Arcane Echo? thats 2 targets with 11 degen. Awaken the blood? 12 degen. Not including the spamming around of just Life Siphon.
This sort of necromancer is ANCIENT and probably not used anymore though.
I bring it out myself once in a while.
Sh*t though, play whatever you like. If everything in the game was cruise control, what fun would you have?
As for the new skills, you might want to try Foul Feast//Plague Signet and self induced conditions, like mesmer's illusion of haste, or signet of agony bleeding, ect.

You are forgetting Well of Blood and Necrosis.
Blood necros aren't all about stealing life. They have lots of utility skills. Also, Life Siphon spam is pretty useless in PvE. It's better to spec Curses and use life steal for emergencies.

I know it's bad and I'm ashamed to say, but I love Life Transfer! I don't play it often, but every now and then it's fun to take it with heroes/henchmen and degen the heck out of those PVE baddies.
For Fun Only!!!

This is what my Necromancer uses primarily on my build. I try to keep a constant source of health available.
I also use [skill]Well of Blood[/skill] and [skill]Signet of Lost Souls[/skill].

[skill]blood drinker[/skill] + [skill]angorodon's gaze[/skill] is fun, just need to micro your hero's condition removal. Or even better take [skill]foul feast[/skill], and maybe [skill]plague sending[/skill], and don't give your heros condition removal. And [skill]necrosis[/skill] is always good to have.

I usually use Well of Blood in place of Blood Renewal *IF* I play blood.
Life Siphon on its own is pretty useless, It's really only as a cover hex for life transfer. Arcane Echoing Vampiric swarm was fun though. With the recent buff it could even be better.
16 blood
12 soul reaping

Probably not fantastic, fun? I think so.

love Necrocis, works awesome with hexes. conditions nice but a necro really dont cause conditions, so un necrosics when ur doing curses or blood. MM is always good in PvE world, probeasiest to do. LT /LS is ok but only realy go one on one with it, and normlay you have 3-7 in a group. I like MM because they can tie up more folks, leaving ur monks a better chance of not being messed with, ie meat shield. good elite for any MM is the Aura of Lich, only found in fire islands in proff or a tome. I perfer tome for that one.

Wail of Doom is great.
Lovely to see (in PVP) how they run away. Use it with [skill]Enfeeble[/skill], [skill]Faintheartedness[/skill], [skill]Price of Failure[/skill] etc.

well for pve large mele mobs are something you might see plenty of and this build can be fun perhaps not the best. but I put it forward as a suggestion to try. I think your likely to be able to try lots of builds for different situations.
<del>spiteful spirit</del> icy veins
signet of lost souls or hexer's vigour
arcane echo or glyph of immolation (ele or mes)
reckless haste
parasitic bond
well of silence
enfeebling blood (controversial nice cap on ranger conditions)
some kind of res

[skill]enfeebling blood[/skill][skill]mark of pain[/skill][skill]barbs[/skill][skill]rip enchantment[/skill][skill]wail of doom[/skill][skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]death pact signet[/skill]+pve skill of your choice : you move like a dwarf, great dwarf weapon, finish him, necrosis...
Mark of pain and barbs work best if you bring a MM hero. Minions will also act as a form of energy management for you
